National food festivals
Food festivals are fast-paced, vibrant environments filled with hundreds of individual stories happening simultaneously. For this project, I was commissioned to create promotional video content for a National food festival business, with the aim of capturing footage and producing versatile assets that could be used to market future events across the organiser's festival portfolio.
Working from a broad creative brief, my role was to capture the atmosphere, energy and variety that make food festivals such engaging experiences. To do this, I attended North Leeds Food Festival at Roundhay Park.
Throughout the day, I documented everything from independent traders and artisan food producers to live entertainment, family activities, audience interactions and the wider festival environment.
With a limited timeframe and a large event site to cover, the focus was on creating a diverse library of high-quality footage that showcased the full visitor experience. This required careful planning, adaptability and a documentary-style approach to ensure no aspect of the event was overlooked.
The resulting promotional video was designed to serve as a flagship marketing asset, helping to communicate the character and appeal of the festival while remaining flexible enough to support future events in different locations. The project demonstrates my ability to work independently, respond to live environments and create engaging visual content that supports wider marketing and promotional objectives.
North Leeds Food Festival 2025 - Hero advertising video
Creating initial templates
As the client would run geographically targeted ads, I could create 3 templates which would serve all of the festivals. The first being North Leeds Food Festival, which went through a number of iterative feedback rounds before forming the basis of the rest. I followed the same format across the second two but changed the video clips and soundtrack. This ensured that locations which were close-by to each other wouldn't see the same advertisement, and all would appear unique to the audience.
Project Organisation
With videos for 12 different festivals, the importance of staying organised was key. This project contained hundreds of video files, 3 different sequences for each (including main and social formats), and a unique set of captions tailored to each location.
